An Overview of AAAP The purpose of AAAP is to provide an organized, structured program for activity professionals who would like to; -Cultivate excellence in providing activities programming and advocacy for primarily geriatric populations. -Foster and maintain the highest standards of professional qualifications, training and ethics within our profession.- -Define and identify, in professional terms, the role of Activity Professional. -Increase the proficiency, professionalism and educational levels of all persons in this field and related fields. -Promote Activity Professionals and those in related areas as professionals to the public and to those with whom we work. -Define the specific knowledge needed to function effectively as an Activity Professional. -Set educational standards and curriculum and to influence regulatory agencies. -Promote continuing education and professional growth as well as self-development within their chosen vocations in a rapidly growing health field. -Exchange ideas and resources and enhance communication among members. With the continuously changing regulation and procedures of activity and recreation therapy programs, it is beneficial to support and belong to your state organization.
